By 8 months the price of most games has dropped, it's seen a sale or two, and the profit potential has dropped significantly. 8 months is a VERY long time for a video game to remain uncracked. That is when studios stand to make the most profit off of their game and that short amount of time generally indicates whether or not a game with be a success or a failure. The most crucial time for game sales are within the first 1 to 2 months of release.
Using Uplay for example is such a pain in the butt that a lot of people crack games they already paid for just to avoid the nonsense. If they can crack it they gained something, if they can't they are just like everyone else.Īnd you realize 8 months are not a long time, right? The best DRM is giving paying customers more convenience and a better experience than what they would get if they downloaded the crack, but publishers clearly don't understand this. I personnally usually don't spend more than 10€ on my games, but that's because I'm okay with waiting a year or so to pick them on steam sales, if you don't have the budget, you can work around it and wait for the price to go down (since AAA titles won't run well anyway on your computer if you really struggle for money there isn't a point on illegally obtain them, you might as well wait to have sufficient hardware to run those, and by that time, games will be so much cheaper anyway)
Like EA games at 79€ for pc versions are serious injuries to the pc game markets. It should be less expensive than console titles are, since there are no shipping and production costs, something at 40 to 45 € would be a lot more acceptable. You're right on the launching price that's for sure. Video games are just to expansive at launch, and that's where all the hype is. where I live some people have no concept for paying more than 15$ for video game because all the repair shops and video game stores sell pirated copies.
If Denuvo's main value really is in fending off piracy at launch, it might be time for publishers to reconsider whether less than a week of protection is worth it, considering how unpopular Denuvo is with PC gamers.I would like to know how many download pirated games that are under 16-18, I feel many get their PC from their parents but feel like they have to play every video game and when your that old in 2nd and 3rd world country's you cant be asking your parents for game every month.
Only about a dozen games have launched with Denuvo this year, at least according to Crackwatch, but those that have been cracked have been cracked fast. Launch day may be the most important for sales, but six days is still a very narrow window for DRM to be effective. In 2019, multiple Denuvo games have been available to pirate the same week they launched. In 2018, it was common for Denuvo cracks to take weeks or months, with some big exceptions like a day zero crack for Final Fantasy 15. Hitman 2 and Just Cause 2 were both cracked within a day, but Assassin's Creed: Odyssey took 36 days, FIFA 19 took 63, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider took 64. Scrolling down into 2018, and the crack times are generally much longer. Devil May Cry 5 cracked: Day 0 (non-Denuvo.
